The Burlington Watch Co. was a subsidiary of the Illinois Watch Co., which was in operation from 1869-1948 and produced some of the best railroad-grade movements ever manufactured. Burlington watches were produced by Illinois in their factory in Springfield, Illinois and the company was headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.
This Burlington pocket watch was manufactured in Springfield, Illinois, and completed in 1915. It features a 19-jewel railroad-grade movement produced by the Illinois Watch Company exclusively for Burlington. The movement has been fully restored and carefully refinished with vibrant blue accents, achieved through traditional thermal heating techniques applied by hand. The gear train, balance, balance weights, and jewel settings have all been returned to their original golden hue, while the plates have been restored to their classic silver finish. The original heat-plum hands remain untouched, preserving their WWI-era authenticity. The porcelain-enamel dial is in excellent condition, with elegant Arabic numerals and minute ticks along the perimeter. The clean, understated design of the dial is matched by the striking contrast of the plum hands against its crisp white surface. Like other railroad-grade timepieces of the period, this watch was built for precision and reliability—qualities that made it a trusted companion during the First World War. The watch has been fully serviced and is ready for your next adventure.
