The Burlington Watch Co. was a subsidiary of the Illinois Watch Co., which was in operation from 1869-1948 and produced some of the best railroad-grade movements ever manufactured. Burlington watches were produced by Illinois in their factory in Springfield, Illinois and the company was headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

This Burlington watch was crafted in Springfield, Illinois, and completed in 1919. It features a 21-jewel movement produced between 1913 and 1929 in collaboration with the Illinois Watch Company. The movement is in outstanding condition and has been refinished with blue accents by thermally heating each component using traditional watchmaking techniques. The jewel settings have been restored to their original golden hue, and the watch plates have been carefully returned to their pristine silver finish. The hands have also been restored using the same thermal treatment process. The porcelain-enamel dial is in the railroad style with minute ticks along the edge, which is called a Montgomery dial. These dials are among the most distinctive and remarkable representing the American railroad era. The dial is in flawless condition void of chips or cracks.

The timepiece is encased in a 316L stainless steel wristwatch conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for ease in winding and setting, ensuring a tailored fit across various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before participating in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your upcoming adventures. Because of our dedication to preserving history, the original Burlington pocket watch case will be included as well. There is a custom inscription on the original case that reads “To Lavant Eugene Preston Holden / Graduation Present / From His / Uncle Albert”. The inscription by Burlington reads “The Burlington Watch Co Guarantees this case to be made of two plates of solid gold over composition and to wear 25 years.”
