The Burlington Watch Co. was a subsidiary of the Illinois Watch Co., which was in operation from 1869-1948 and produced some of the best railroad-grade movements ever manufactured. Burlington watches were produced by Illinois in their factory in Springfield, Illinois and the company was headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.
This Burlington watch, crafted in Springfield, Illinois, was completed in 1920. It features a 21-jewel movement produced between 1913 and 1929 in collaboration with the Illinois Watch Company. The movement is in good condition and has been refinished with blue accents by thermally heating each component using traditional watchmaking techniques. The jewel settings have been restored to their original golden hue, and the watch plates have been carefully returned to their silver finish. The hands have also been restored using the same thermal treatment process. The porcelain-enamel dial is in the railroad style with minute ticks along the edge, which is called a Montgomery dial. These dials are among the most distinctive and remarkable representing the American railroad era.
This timepiece is cased in a newly designed silver-colored wristwatch conversion case, ensuring comfortable wear with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting while also providing a more tailored fit for wrists of various sizes. The case, equipped with front, back, and crown gaskets, offers water resistance up to 50 meters, although it is advisable to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. Having undergone thorough servicing, this timepiece is ready for your upcoming adventures. Because of our dedication to preserving history, the original 14 karat gold case will be included as well.
