Elgin National Watch Co. was in operation from 1864-1968 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.
This Elgin timepiece was manufactured in Elgin, Illinois, and was finished in 1900. It is driven by Elgin's proprietary 15-jewel Grade 191 movement, a low production model produced by Elgin from 1899 to 1900. The movement boasts 15 jewels, a brass center wheel bushing, and a safety barrel. The movement has been meticulously restored and custom-refinished with distinctive blue accents. These accents were achieved by thermally treating each movement part by hand to impart a blue hue to the iron-based components. The golden hands are original and have not been restored, while the brass jewel settings have been cleaned to reveal their original golden sheen. The Elgin dial, crafted with an extraordinary blue finish, is made of exquisite porcelain enamel and remains in pristine condition. This dial features a mesmerizing sunburst pattern that shifts and shimmers, revealing different facets of its beauty depending on how the light strikes it.
The timepiece is housed in a 316L stainless steel wristwatch conversion case, featuring adjustable lugs for convenient winding and setting, ensuring a custom fit for different wrist sizes. The case is equipped with front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, although it is advised to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The timepiece is fully serviced and ready for your next adventures. In our commitment to preserving history, the original 25-year gold-filled pocket watch case is included as well.
