Elgin National Watch Co. was in operation from 1864-1968 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.
This Elgin timepiece was manufactured in Elgin, Illinois, and completed in 1901. It is powered by Elgin's proprietary 15-jewel Grade 233 movement, a flagship model produced between 1900 and 1904. The movement features 15 jewels, intricately adorned ratchet and crown wheels, and exquisite damaskeening. The movement components were meticulously refinished with stylish blue accents on the screws and hardware through precise hand-thermal treatment, utilizing traditional watchmaking techniques. The watch hands underwent the same restoration, while the brass jewel settings were cleaned to reveal their original golden sheen. The Elgin dial, crafted in the fancy style, is made of porcelain-enamel and remains in excellent condition, with golden decoration along the edge and a pink center.
The timepiece is encased in a 316L stainless steel wristwatch conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure.
