Elgin National Watch Co. was in operation from 1864-1968 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.
This Elgin timepiece was crafted in Elgin, Illinois, and completed in 1911. It houses Elgin's GM Wheeler, a high-end 17-jewel movement produced from 1906 to 1917. The movement showcases 17 jewels, intricately decorated ratchet and crown wheels, and striped damaskeening. Movement components were carefully refinished with blue accents on the screws and hardware using a hand-thermal treatment process, a traditional watchmaking technique. The watch hands retain their original golden color, and the brass jewel settings have been polished by hand to restore their original golden luster. The Elgin dial, made of porcelain-enamel, is in near-flawless condition, free of any cracks or hairlines. The dial features a light blue center with golden decorations and elegant Roman numerals. The golden hands stand out remarkably against the white porcelain-enamel.
The timepiece is encased in a 316L stainless steel pocket watch conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit for various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters; however, it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure.
