Elgin National Watch Co. was in operation from 1864-1968 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.
This Elgin timepiece was manufactured in Elgin, Illinois, and was finished in 1898. The watch is powered by Elgin’s in-house 19 jewel Grade 189 movement, which was produced between 1898-1910 with 10,000 manufactured. Being produced in 1898, this movement is from the first manufacturing run of the Grade 189 series. The movement features 19 jewels, 14 karat gold raised jewel settings, and a jeweled motor barrel. The movement has been restored and custom refinished with blue accents. The accents were created by thermally treating each movement part by hand to color the iron based components. The hands of the watch are in their original heat blued condition and have not been restored. The Elgin dial is porcelain-enamel with a simulated double-sunk design. The dial is in excellent condition, void of any chips, but does have a minor hairline between the 28 and 29 minute markers. The watch is cased in a new silver-colored wrist watch conversion case so the watch can be enjoyed on your wrist. The watch comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure.
