Elgin National Watch Co. was in operation from 1864-1968 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.
This Elgin timepiece, crafted in Elgin, Illinois, was finished in 1900. Its driven by Elgin's proprietary 17-jewel Grade 192 movement, which was only manufactured for a few years between 1898 and 1900 with just 6,000 produced. The movement boasts a jeweled motor barrel, an intricate balance pattern, and exquisite damaskeening. The movement has been custom-refinished with blue accents achieved through the thermal treatment of each part by hand. The original blue steel hands remain unrestored in their manufactured condition. The jewel settings are raised and have been restored to their original golden color, and the black enamel lettering was meticulously restored by hand. The metal Elgin dial is in good condition and features a guilloche motif at the center.
Encased in a newly designed silver-colored wristwatch conversion case, this timepiece ensures comfortable wear with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, providing a more tailored fit for wrists of various sizes. The case, equipped with front, back, and crown gaskets, offers water resistance up to 50 meters, although it is advisable to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. Having undergone thorough servicing, this timepiece is ready for your upcoming adventures. Because of our commitment to preserving history, this timepiece also comes with the original 14k 25 year case.
