Elgin National Watch Co. was in operation from 1864-1968 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.
This Elgin timepiece was manufactured in Elgin, Illinois, and was completed in 1903. It is driven by Elgin's proprietary 15-jewel Grade 235 movement, a low-production model produced by Elgin from 1900 to 1904. The movement features 15 jewels, intricately decorated ratchet and crown wheels, and exquisite damaskeening. The movement has been restored and custom-refinished with distinctive blue accents. These accents were achieved by thermally heating each movement part by hand to impart a blue hue to the iron-based components. The hands were restored using the same thermal treatment process, while the brass jewel settings have been cleaned to reveal their original golden sheen. The Elgin dial is absolutely stunning, featuring bold numerals in a classic railroad style.
The timepiece is encased in a 316L stainless steel wristwatch conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your future adventures.
