Elgin National Watch Co. was in operation from 1864-1968 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.
This Elgin timepiece was manufactured in Elgin, Illinois, and was finished in 1917. The watch is powered by Elgin’s in-house 15 jewel Grade 315 movement, which was one of Elgin’s workhorse movements produced between 1904-1940. The movement features 15 jewels, brass jewel settings, and beautiful damaskeening. The movement has been restored and custom refinished with blue accents. The accents were created by thermally treating each movement part by hand to color the iron based components. The hands of the watch have also bee restored using the same thermal treatment process. The Elgin dial is a Freemasonry dial in exceptional condition. We cannot say the dial is flawless, since it is metal and does show sings of age, but we can say this dial is near-flawless and we have never seen a dial of this era in such condition. This is truly an exceptional piece. The watch is cased in a new silver-colored wrist watch conversion case so the watch can be enjoyed on your wrist. This case is designed with adjustable lugs making the watch easy to wind and set. The adjustable lugs also permit a more custom fit for different wrist sizes. The watch comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure. Because of our dedication to preserving history, the original 20 year gold filled pocket watch case will be included as well.
