Elgin National Watch Co. was in operation from 1864-1968 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.
This Elgin timepiece was crafted in Elgin, Illinois, and completed in 1925. It houses Elgin's Grade 345, a 17-jewel in-house movement produced from 1905 to 1933. The movement showcases 17 jewels, intricately decorated ratchet and crown wheels, and beautiful damaskeening. Movement components were carefully refinished with blue accents on the screws and hardware by hand using thermal coloring, a technique used by watchmakers in the early 1900s to improve corrosion resistance and aesthetics. The watch hands retain their original golden color, and the brass jewel settings have been polished by hand to restore their original golden luster. The Elgin dial, made of porcelain-enamel, is in flawless condition, free of any cracks, chips, or hairlines. The dial features a light pink center with golden motifs and elegant Roman numerals. The golden hands stand out remarkably against the white porcelain-enamel dial.
The timepiece is encased in a 316L stainless steel pocket watch conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit for various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters; however, it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure. Because of our dedication to preserving American watchmaking history, the original pocket watch case is induced as well.
