Elgin National Watch Co. was in operation from 1864-1968 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.
This Elgin timepiece was manufactured in Elgin, Illinois, and was finished in 1923. The watch is powered by Elgin’s in-house 17 jewel Grade 384 movement, which was one of Elgin’s workhorse movements produced between 1910-1923. The movement features 17 jewels, brass jewel settings, and beautiful damaskeening. The movement has been restored and custom refinished with blue accents. The accents were created by thermally treating each movement part by hand to color the iron based components. The hands of the watch have not been restored and are in their original, elegant Louis XIV style. The Elgin dial is a porcelain-enamel and in flawless condition. The dial is in the fancy style with elegant golden motifs surrounding the dial. This is the first time we have come across this specific fancy dial style and we are not sure when we will come across another in the future. The watch is cased in a new silver-colored wrist watch conversion case so the watch can be enjoyed on your wrist. This case is designed with adjustable lugs making the watch easy to wind and set. The adjustable lugs also permit a more custom fit for different wrist sizes. The watch comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventure.
