Illinois Watch Co. was in operation from 1869-1948 and produced some of the most renowned railroad-grade movements ever manufactured. Watches were produced in their factory in Springfield, Illinois.
This Illinois timepiece was manufactured in Springfield, Illinois, and was finished in 19190520. The watch is powered by the 255 grade movement, which is a 17 jewel Illinois in-house movement that was produced between 1903-1920. The movement is in exceptional condition with beautiful sunburst damaskeening and also features a bridge plate design so the gear train is on display. The movement has been custom refinished with deep blue accents, and the movement screws have been finished in blue as well. The accents were created by thermally treating each movement part by hand to color the iron based components. The hands of the watch are in their original plum color and have not been restored. The Illinois dial is porcelain-enamel, features Arabic Numerals, and is in excellent condition. The watch comes cased in the original gold filled pocket watch case. The case features both front and back hinges, a movement dust cover, and an elegant textured pattern on the caseback.
