Illinois Watch Co. was in operation from 1869-1948 and produced some of the most renowned railroad-grade movements ever manufactured. Watches were produced in their factory in Springfield, Illinois.
This timepiece, produced in Springfield, Illinois in 1920, is powered by the 405 grade movement—a 17-jewel Illinois in-house mechanism manufactured between 1911 and 1929. The movement, adorned with intricate circular damaskeening, showcases the entire gear train through a bridge plate design. Exceptionally well-preserved, the movement has been custom refinished with deep blue accents achieved through precise thermal treatment of each part. The movement screws also exhibit a blue finish, and the watch hands underwent a similar restoration process.
The metal Illinois dial displays a captivating patina with prominent Arabic Numerals. Encased in a newly designed silver-colored wristwatch conversion case, this timepiece ensures comfortable wear with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, offering a more personalized fit across various wrist sizes. The case, featuring front, back, and crown gaskets, provides water resistance up to 50 meters, although it is advisable to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. Having undergone thorough servicing, this timepiece is prepared for your upcoming adventures. In a testament to our dedication to preserving history, the original 25 year gold filled pocket watch case is included.
