Illinois Watch Co. was in operation from 1869-1948 and produced some of the most renowned railroad-grade movements ever manufactured. Watches were produced in their factory in Springfield, Illinois.
This timepiece, produced in Springfield, Illinois, in 1925, is powered by the Autocrat grade movement—a 17-jewel in-house mechanism manufactured by Illinois between 1921 and 1927. The movement showcases sunburst damaskeening and a bridge plate design, putting the entire gear train on display. The movement has been restored and custom-refinished with distinctive blue accents. These accents were achieved by thermally treating each movement part by hand to impart a blue hue to the iron-based components. The golden Louis XIV hands are original and untouched, and the brass jewel settings have been cleaned to showcase their original golden luster. The porcelain-enamel Illinois dial features distinct blue lettering and numerals. The contrast between the white dial and blue text complements the golden hands beautifully.
The timepiece is encased in a 316L stainless steel pocket watch conversion case, featuring adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though removing the watch before water activities is recommended. The timepiece comes fully serviced and is ready for your next adventure.
