Illinois Watch Co. was in operation from 1869-1948 and produced some of the most renowned railroad-grade movements ever manufactured. Watches were produced in their factory in Springfield, Illinois.
This Illinois timepiece was crafted in Springfield, Illinois, in 1906. It features the 228-grade movement, a 15-jewel in-house caliber produced by Illinois from 1904 to 1918, with fewer than 20,000 manufactured. The movement is in exceptional condition, fully restored, and custom refinished with blue accents. These accents were achieved by thermally treating each iron-based component by hand using traditional watchmaking techniques. The hands remain in their original heat-blued condition, exactly as Illinois applied them at the time of manufacture. The porcelain-enamel dial embodies the quintessential vintage American aesthetic, featuring highly legible Arabic numerals, red minute markers along the perimeter, and a sub-seconds dial. The heat-blued hands provide striking contrast against the dial, making checking the time a visual delight.
The timepiece is encased in a 316L stainless steel conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your future adventures.
