Illinois Watch Co. was in operation from 1869-1948 and produced some of the most renowned railroad-grade movements ever manufactured. Watches were produced in their factory in Springfield, Illinois.
This timepiece, produced in Springfield, Illinois in 1930, is powered by the 127 grade movement—a 17-jewel Illinois in-house mechanism manufactured between 1927 and 1932. The movement is decorated with striped damaskeening and features a bridge plate design so the entire gear train is on display. The movement has been restored and custom-refinished with distinctive blue accents. These accents were achieved by thermally treating each movement part by hand to impart a blue hue to the iron-based components. The golden hands are original and have not been restored, while the brass jewel settings have been cleaned to reveal their original golden sheen. The metal Illinois dial features a guilloche pattern that reflects light in different directions depending on how it strikes the surface. This creates a captivating effect when checking the time, making the dial visually striking and a true delight to admire.
The timepiece is encased in a 316L stainless steel pocket watch conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your future adventures. Because of our dedication to preserving history, the original 14 karat gold filled pocket watch will be included as well.
