Elgin National Watch Co. was in operation from 1864-1968 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.
This Elgin timepiece was manufactured in Elgin, Illinois, and completed in 1922. It is powered by Elgin's proprietary Lord Elgin Grade 450 movement, an ultra luxurious model produced between 1918 and 1928 with only about ten thousand produced. The movement features 21 jewels, 14 karat gold jewel settings, and an intricately decorated balance cap jewel. The movement components were meticulously refinished with stylish blue accents on the screws and hardware through precise hand-thermal treatment, using traditional watchmaking techniques. The watch hands received the same restoration, while the jewel settings were cleaned to reveal their original golden sheen. The Elgin dial is metal with a honeycomb-like texture that looks like tree bark in various light conditions. The heat-blued hands provide exceptional contrast against the dial, offering a visual delight when checking the time.
The timepiece is housed in a 316L stainless steel wristwatch conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting while ensuring a comfortable fit for various wrist sizes. The case features front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters; however, it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your next adventures.
