Rockford Watch Co. was in operation from 1873-1915 and was an American pocket watch manufacturer. Manufacturing of Rockford watches took place at their facility in Rockford, Illinois.
This Rockford pocket watch was manufactured in Rockford, Illinois, and completed in 1877. It features Rockford’s in-house Model 2 movement, produced from 1876 to 1883. As Rockford was founded in 1873, this timepiece represents an early example, crafted just four years after the company’s establishment. The movement has been fully restored and serviced while preserving its original components. The blue thermal accents, applied by Rockford during manufacture, remain intact. The gilt finish on the movement has been carefully restored to highlight its stunning gold hue. The Rockford dial is in near-pristine condition, free of any hairline cracks, while the original hands have been meticulously restored to their rich deep-blue color through thermal coloring. This particular piece is especially unique, having been custom-made for a watchmaker in Washington, DC, as evidenced by the hand-engraved “Washington DC” inscription on the movement. The watch is housed in its original coin silver (0.900) hunter case, making it a rare and exceptional example of Rockford’s craftsmanship.
