Illinois Watch Co. was in operation from 1869-1948 and produced some of the most renowned railroad-grade movements ever manufactured. Watches were produced in their factory in Springfield, Illinois.
This Illinois timepiece was crafted in Springfield, Illinois in 1916 during WWI. The timepiece features the renowned 273-grade movement, a 17-jewel in-house movement produced by Illinois from 1905 to 1923. The movement has been meticulously restored and serviced, with special care taken to preserve the original fish scale damaskeening and the brilliance of the golden jewel settings. The movement components remain unrestored with their original golden accents, which were added by Illinois at the time of manufacture. The hands were restored using thermal coloring, which is the same technique Illinois used to impart the deep blue hue on the hands originally. The metal Illinois dial showcases bold numerals with an intricate guilloche motif radiating across the dial. Over time, the dial has developed a rich, natural patina, adding depth and character to the timepiece.
The timepiece is encased in a 316L stainless steel conversion case, designed with adjustable lugs for easy winding and setting, ensuring a comfortable fit across various wrist sizes. The case includes front, back, and crown gaskets, providing water resistance up to 50 meters, though it is recommended to remove the watch before engaging in water activities. The timepiece comes fully serviced and ready for your future adventures.
